Jonathan Cherkoss serves as a regulatory analyst and technical writer in Vicente Sederberg's Denver office. With a background in law and extensive operational knowledge of the cannabis industry, he brings a unique perspective to the firm. Since joining the firm in March 2019, he has drafted license applications for Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, and Missouri.
Before joining VS, Jonathan served on Governor Jared Polis’s 2018 gubernatorial campaign as the nation’s first cannabis outreach coordinator. In that position, he was tasked with mobilizing the cannabis vote in Colorado during the 2018 mid-term elections, effectively managing the outreach efforts to over 40,000 Colorado MED badged employees. In addition to Gov. Polis's campaign, Jonathan has experience working with multiple campaigns at the state and local levels.
Jonathan also spent almost two years as a compliance and policy officer with a leading Colorado cannabis manufacturer and cultivator, performing compliance audits and government affairs.
During law school, Jonathan focused primarily on international business and international human rights, serving as a research associate with the Public International Law and Policy Group Syria and Yemen team. He also has a master’s degree in International Affairs (2015) from the American University School of International Service.
