Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division Eliminates 90-Day Grace Period for Late License Renewals

Effective January 1, 2020, the MED is eliminating the 90-day grace period for filing late license renewals.

New MED rule 2-225(D) states that “A license is immediately invalid upon expiration if the Licensee has not filed a renewal application and remitted all of the required application and license fees prior to the license expiration date. A Regulated Marijuana Business that fails to file a renewal application and remit all required application and license fees prior to the license expiration date must not operate unless it first obtains a new state license and any required local license.”

On December 6, 2019, the MED issued a compliance tip bringing this change to licensees’ attention. View the compliance tip here.

Failure to file a timely renewal could severely impact your business operations. It is very important that all business license renewals are submitted in advance of the license expiration date.
